The Waterfall

From the center of Farindola, follow the road that comes out of Porta della Fonte, crosses the provincial road for Montebello di Bertona and continues towards the Valle d’Angri. Those arriving from Penne and from the coast can follow the signs for the chamois wildlife area, passing through San Quirico and avoiding the town. After passing several houses, the road crosses a pine forest, passes the houses of Macchie from which another path begins for the wildlife area and reaches a path closed by a barrier (locality Pietra di Manfrino, 640 metres). The parking space is sufficient for two or three cars. On foot, follow the path that descends halfway up the pine forest and reaches an observation platform in the wildlife area. Where the route ends next to an ENEL tunnel, go down a concrete stairway, turn right and reach the Golden Calf waterfall. Go back a few meters, go down to a platform, cross an ENEL canal and the Tavo over two bridges and reach the enclosure of the chamois wildlife area (615 metres). Go up to the left along the marked path which after a few meters leaves the fence to head towards Contrada Ronchetti and Farindola. An unmarked path allows you to continue uphill next to the fence. Round trip you walk for 0.30 hours. Those who prefer a longer walk must descend from Farindola to Contrada Ronchetti and San Quirico and take the marked path (386 metres) which climbs into the woods, leaving the few houses of San Giuseppe on the left and continuing climbing halfway up between abandoned thick woods on the orographic right of the Tavo. A stretch in a beautiful pine forest leads to the base of the fence, from which you can continue upwards next to the fence and to the right up to the Golden Calf waterfall. This route takes 1 hour to go and 0.45 hours to return from Contrada Ronchetti. The path that descends from Farindola to the beginning of the path is easy downhill (0.15 hours) but tiring uphill (0.30 hours), and is not recommended on the hottest days.
