The Cliff Park
Permanent wildlife exhibitionThe Park
The “La Rupe” Park was born in 1980 in Civitella Casanova, in c.da fornace n.5 (191.23 km), hilly hinterland of the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo. Its creator is Roberto Locatelli who, starting from the consideration that no animal can be taken from the wild anymore, has made himself available to welcome and keep wild animals in foster care by bodies such as the Abruzzo National Park, the State Forestry Corps and from other domestic and foreign zoos as part of conservation and protection projects. It is also a Botanical Park with over 200 different types of plants. It is not a Zoo Safari and visiting it is a walk in the countryside! Since April 2018 it is no longer a Zoo but a Permanent Wildlife Exhibition. It currently represents an eco-museum where it is possible to take advantage of educational workshops, a picnic area, a wildlife area. At the didactic level, the activities are adaptable to the needs of educational institutions of all levels in the area. The themes of the workshops are related to the animal and vegetable world with the aim of making the children who visit the Park spend pleasant and interesting hours. Footprints and dens, the magic box, the evolution of man and fossilization are some of the laboratories that the Park makes available to teachers. The museum area is a space conceived precisely to be able to observe and in some cases touch truly precious finds. There is also a picnic area for socializing with immersion in nature. The bar and the sales point complete the tourist offer proposed to the visitor.
Every Sunday the Compagnia del Lupo Errante will present the medieval village “Passo dei Briganti” inside the Park. An entire area dedicated to adults and children among medieval craftsmen with whom you can interact, from the carpenter to the surgeon passing through the farmer and the apothecary. There will be activities to try such as throwing axes and knives, all immersed in nature. Furthermore, only on Sundays, a menu of kebabs to be enjoyed outdoors.
